These terms cover your use of toolshash.com. Using the site means you accept them. If you do not, the tools are free and nobody is asking you to stay.
What ToolsHash Provides
ToolsHash offers free browser-based generators and calculators, plus articles about how they work. The tools run as JavaScript on your own device. Nothing you type into them is sent to our server, and we keep no record of what you generate.
The service is provided as it is, at no cost, with no account and no contract. We may add tools, change how an existing one works, or remove one entirely, without notice. If a tool you rely on is important to you, do not build a workflow that breaks when it changes.
Using the Tools Responsibly
You are responsible for what you do with the output. That matters more here than on most sites, because several of these tools produce security-relevant values.
When you use ToolsHash, you agree not to:
- Use any tool to gain access to a system, account or network you are not authorised to access
- Generate values intended to impersonate another person or organisation
- Use the random email generator against domains you do not control, or in a way that sends unwanted mail to real people
- Attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a rate that degrades it for others, or bypass its technical controls
- Republish our articles as your own or reproduce them in bulk without permission
Unauthorised access to computer systems is a criminal offence in most countries, including under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act in the United States and the Computer Misuse Act 1990 in the United Kingdom. Nothing on this site is an invitation to break those laws.
No Warranty
The tools and the articles are provided without warranty of any kind. We do not promise that a tool will be available, that it will be free of errors, or that its output will be suitable for your particular purpose.
We aim for the generators to behave correctly and we fix problems when they are reported, but you use them at your own risk. If a generated password, key or identifier is going to protect something that matters, verify it meets the requirements of the system you are using it with.
Because nothing you generate reaches our server, we cannot recover a value you have lost. Copy anything you need before you close the tab.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, ToolsHash is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or of anything generated with it. That includes lost data, lost access to an account, business interruption, or any indirect or consequential loss.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability exclusions, and where that is the case this clause applies only as far as the local law permits. Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
Content and Intellectual Property
The articles, page copy and original images on this site belong to ToolsHash. You may quote a short passage with a link back. You may not republish whole articles, or reproduce the content at scale, without written permission.
The values the tools generate are yours. We claim nothing over a password, string, QR code or number you create here, and you can use them commercially without attribution.
Product names, trademarks and brand names mentioned in articles belong to their respective owners. Mentioning a product does not imply any endorsement or affiliation in either direction.
If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, email support@toolshash.com with enough detail to identify the material and we will review it promptly.
Links to Other Sites
Articles link out to documentation, vendors, standards and community resources. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else’s site, governed by their terms and their privacy practices. We have no control over what they publish and no responsibility for it.
Advertising
This site is funded by advertising. Ads are selected and served by third-party networks, not chosen by us individually, and appearing here is not an endorsement of the advertiser or their product.
The privacy policy explains what advertising means for cookies and your data, and how to opt out of personalised ads.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the site changes. The date at the top shows when they were last revised, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised version. Material changes are made visibly on this page rather than quietly.
