ToolsHash publishes free tools and articles for general information. This page sets out what that information is, and more usefully, what it is not.
Security Tools: Read This One
This site includes a password generator, a passphrase generator, a password strength checker and several random value generators. They are built carefully, and they are still only tools.
A generated password is not automatically safe. Its strength depends on the length and character set you chose, and on what you do with it next. Pasting a password into a chat message, reusing it across accounts, or storing it in a plain text file undoes everything the generator did.
The strength checker gives an estimate, not a verdict. It scores how guessable a password is, based on length, character variety and recognisable patterns. It does not check your password against known breach databases. A password can score strongly here and still have appeared in a leak, which is a different question answered by services built for it.
Crack time figures are approximations. They model an offline attack against a leaked password hash. Real speed depends on the attacker’s hardware and how the service hashed your password. Read the numbers as orders of magnitude, not predictions.
Nothing you generate can be recovered. Everything runs in your browser and nothing reaches our server, so if you close the tab without copying a value, it is gone. We cannot retrieve it.
No Professional Advice
Articles here explain how things work. They are not professional advice and should not be treated as a substitute for it.
Security content is written for general readers. If you are protecting a business system, handling regulated data, or responding to an incident, get advice from a qualified security professional who can look at your actual situation. Where an article touches on legal, financial or compliance topics, the same applies.
Accuracy and Currency
We check facts before publishing and correct errors when we find them. Even so, technical writing ages. Apps redesign their interfaces, standards get revised, and services change what they offer. A guide that was accurate when published can mislead a year later.
Articles carry the date they were last updated. Treat anything with an old date with appropriate caution, particularly step-by-step instructions for third-party software.
If you find something wrong or out of date, email support@toolshash.com and it will be corrected. Corrections are welcome and go to the front of the queue.
Tool Results
Calculators and generators produce results from the values you enter. Check important results independently before acting on them.
The tip calculator, as an example, performs arithmetic on what you type. It does not know your local tipping conventions, whether a service charge is already on your bill, or whether the figure you entered was the subtotal or the total. Those judgements are yours.
Random IP addresses and email addresses are generated for testing. They are valid in format only. An address may coincide with a real host or a real mailbox, so do not send traffic or mail to values generated here. Use the ranges and domains reserved for testing, which the relevant tool pages explain.
External Links
Articles link to documentation, vendors, standards bodies and community resources. Those links are provided because they are useful, not as an endorsement. We do not control what appears on other sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices.
Product and service names belong to their owners. Mentioning or comparing a product does not imply affiliation, endorsement or sponsorship in either direction.
Advertising and Earnings
This site carries third-party advertising, which is how it is funded. Advertisements are served by ad networks and are not individually reviewed or endorsed by us.
Where an article contains an affiliate or sponsored link, that is disclosed clearly within the article itself. If you do not see a disclosure, there is no commercial relationship behind the link.
Your Responsibility
Use of this site and anything generated with it is at your own risk. ToolsHash accepts no liability for loss or damage resulting from reliance on the information or tools provided here. The terms and conditions set out the full position.
